What is email deliverability and why is it important?

If your email isn't getting delivered to the people you want to get in front of, then that's a big deal.

Sender score: What goes into your Sender Score?

  1. Percentage of sends are hard bouncing
  2. Engagement metrics as a proxy of quality

How can marketers improve their Sender Score?

  • Validate the quality of email before it goes into database
    • Real-time, validation (API call)
    • Improve inbox deliverability / engagement rate
  • Eliminate hard bounces
  • Reduce your spam complaints
  • Avoid high-risk email accounts, associated with fraud, chargebacks
  • Dodge those spam-bots

 

What are some myths about email deliverability?

There are just different schools of thought and it always depends on the situation and your goals. They can both work in different situations.

Rather than worry about more or less, look at the data and where is too much creating more opting out, why are people opting out?

#1 Piece of advice: Stop asking your agency “when is the best time to send an email” -- you can actually personalize that, use your data to send at the best time for your audience.
