A lot of noise has been made recently about Facebook's new Messenger app. Many users of the Facebook mobile app are reporting that they can no longer send messages through the standard mobile app and instead are being forced to use the separate mobile app.

So what's the big deal? Well, Facebook is being accused of crossing the line when it comes to privacy in this app and plenty of coverage is available on many major media sources like The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and Business Insider just to name a few.

Though many people claim that it's not that big of a deal, others are creeped out by it and are looking for an alternative. Or maybe you just find it annoying to have to use a second app just for messaging.

My advice? Use the web! Many people are so used to using the app on their phone that they don't think about the web version.

I uninstalled the Facebook app from my phone, logged into Facebook via mobile browser, and created a shortcut icon on my home screen.

Now, when I launch Facebook it simply opens it in my mobile browser and has proven to be a much better experience. It's faster, takes up less space on my phone, links open up in my phone's mobile browser instead of Facebook's slow browser, and I can send and receive messages easily via the web. Facebook's responsive website is very good and I much prefer it to the app.

I also did the same for LinkedIn and a few other apps.

So give the mobile site a try and you might never want to go back!
